Continued Legacy

“Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure that impact lasts in your absence.” -Sheryl Sandberg

We had the chance to visit BAAYF for a couple of days last week and upon returning home, my heart couldn’t have been more full. Making our way back to this special place each year, where I myself have grown so much as a person, a believer, and as a leader continues to inspire me. The person I am today, is due in part to the countless counselors and staff who fed into my life. Without their one on ones, their check ins, their faith in what I could become, I wouldn’t be here seeing the fruits of their labor. Now to see my own campers in running the camp and stepping into these leadership roles has been such a gift. I could not be more proud of these young people and the love and passion they have for the youth of this generation. Both my boys who aren’t even campers have also developed a love for this place that runs deep in their veins. Our entire family is indebted to this incredible camp. Until next year…

“…the earth has music for those who listen.” -Shakesphere

Last weekend we took our first friendcation with some family and friends. It was the first time, Juju had the chance to travel with someone his age and it was glorious. The two were so happy playing together basically all day long. The three little nuggets were adorable as ever as they took in the scenes from their baby carriers or from sitting on the sandy beach with sand running past their itty bitty fingers. Between all the good food, the donuts, the desserts, we had ourselves quite a blast. I hope these photos will bring back fond memories for years to come as we travel from place to place together. #squadgoalswiththeserascals

A Visit to the USS Hornet

“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.” -Dr. Seuss

The end of summer is near and that means I’ve been planning and prepping to make the most of my last week off. Today was extra special for me and the boys. I picked up our favorite lunch to eat by the water, I brought Jude to a special place where he could admire all the planes and the ins and outs of an old ship, and I wore the “piaoliang” dress he asks me to wear almost every single day. When I’m old and wrinkly and Jude wants to tell his kids about his adventures with mama, I hope these photos will take him back to all the fun we had together. Ronan is still too young to remember this trip, but in two or three years he’ll be able to add to the memories of their joint Juju & Roro adventures. I hope both my children will remember that “if there is a will, there is way.” Life ain’t always easy, but it doesn’t have to stop you from living it. I pray both my children will take the time to make even a solo day count. To fill their children with just time to explore, to play, and to take risks.

A Shower to Remember

“…and she loved a little boy very very much, even more than she loved herself.” -Shel Silverstein

Today was Gina’s baby shower something I’ve been waiting for pretty much since the day she got married. Her party was thrown by Lauren who did such a phenomenal job putting everything together. I seriously felt like I was attending a gorgeous garden wedding, instead of someone’s baby shower. Every detail was taken care of with such care and the food was all delicious. Everyone I met at the party, pretty much confirmed what I already knew about my dear friend, Gina. Once you meet her, she stays as a permanent fixture in your life. She’s amazing in more ways than one and I have no doubts she’s going to make an amazing mama too. Everything that makes her an incredible daughter, sister, wife, and friend will all be channeled into her becoming the mom I know she’s going to be.

7 months and counting…

“There’s only one thing more precious than our time and that’s who we spent it on.” -Leo Christopher

Ronan is closer to 8 months, than 7 months but I still wanted to squeeze in some time today to take some snapshots of this growing baby boy. This has been a big month in a lot of ways, he’s really gotten the hang of eating solids, he’s been working on getting over his HUGE right thigh to start the process of crawling, and he’s started forming the cutest “mmm” with his mouth in an attempt to start forming words. Basically everything you’ll see below consists of this month’s big milestones. I really adore his cues, his sweet cuddles, and most of all his chunkamunk bod. I know it’s only time before he starts slimming down, so for now here’s my big sweet baby. And guess what?!? I finally figured out how to use a remote to take photos from my dslr. GAME CHANGER! I vow to exist in this child’s albums and the start of it all begins now!

Let’s go to Legoland

“In the end, we only regret the vacations we didn’t take.” -Anonymous

Last week marked the second solo trip I took with Jude and this time Ronan got to join in on the fun too. I’m not going to lie, the initial thought of traveling alone with two kids did scare me a bit, but I can say without a doubt it was well worth it. Once I got on and off the plane, I felt a whole lot better about the rest of the trip. Being stuck on a delayed plane was by far the hardest part, the rest was pretty much amazing. We squeezed in as much as we could during our four days in San Diego and my brother was the best uncle any kids could ask for. He drove us around during our stay and took us to so many places. It was such special time for the boys and myself get to spend time with my brother making the kind of memories I hope none of us will ever forget. These photos are a small tribute to all the work my brother put into making this such a memorable trip for us. Thank you again, Abe for everything! Jude hasn’t stopped talking about his time in San Diego and I can’t wait for next year to come around for another trip out to see you.

Happy Birthday, Ms. Mini!

“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.” -Dr. Seuss

Happy birthday to my niece! We celebrated her first year with a Minnie themed party and it was perfect. Catered by Chikfila, dessert, and strawberries made it an easy laid back party. She did smashingly well for her first party and entertained every single one of her guests during her cake smash.

We love all the joy you bring into our lives and we’re glad we have a girl in the mix now that you’ve been born. I promise your cousins will protect you and share their noodles with you. Love you, Nattie Mei Mei! Can’t wait for the many memories we’re going to make in the years to come.
