“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” -Socrates
Before Ronan was born, part of me wanted to hold onto the way things were. Ken and I were doing well, we were starting to come to this sweet age where Juju was learning to be more independent, all the while making us laugh. I was afraid that my heart wouldn’t be able to expand to fit another human, yet all my mommy friends told me it just happens. They had been right about so much before and sure enough that’s how it happened. With every passing day my heart seems to grow, filling it with new love for Ronan. With so much of our lives filled with things to do and places to go and especially since I often shoot on the weekends, I don’t always take the time to use my camera to document my own family. But with the new year, something inside of me wanted to capture the change that’s happening before my eyes each day. Jude has started full time daycare/preschool, he’s turning 3 at the end of this month, my husband whom I’ve known since I was 14 has also changed and it’s a privilege to still love and grow old together, and my new nugget is slowly putting on the pounds. I’ll be heading back to work this week and I’m thankful I’ll have these photos to remind me of what I’ll be coming home to each day.
