My Busybody is 14 Months Old!

“Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are.” -Marianne Williamson

I almost forgot that today Jude turned 14 months old! Coming home from church today, I realized I want for my child and future children to always be my number one clients. I never want to become so busy that I stop capturing their journey throughout life. Today’s little backyard shoot made me realize just how determined Jude is to move from Point A to Point B. That little focused face of his and his little duck lips made me smile from ear to ear and it’s not just when we’re at home that he has me smiling.

Recently, we were riding on BART and learned a very important lesson from my one year old son. It didn’t matter the color of their skin, the clothes they were wearing, what they were carrying in their hand, or what physical condition they were in…Juju smiled for everyone. He waved to everyone. He gave each person a little bit of his joy. I hope he never loses that gift and I hope I never stop learning from his childlike sweetness. Thank you for reminding me that joy should always be shared.

Weekend Field Trip

“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serous learning. But for children, play is serious learning.” -Mr. Rogers

We’ve been waiting a long time to take Juju to the Oakland Zoo with friends of ours and his aunt and uncle. It’s especially fun, now that Jude is mobile and can walk around on his own. I couldn’t believe how brave he was, willing to walk up to any goat and pet them from their head to their bodies. I can still remember being frightened as a child when I used to go to Happy Hallow Park in my kid overalls. Wish I had a comparison photo right about now. 😉 Since today turned out so well, I wouldn’t mind going back again in the near future. Next stop, the Palo Alto Zoo with my cousin and her son!

Thanks for joining us on our short adventure! My favorite photo is the one of Caesar. How creepy is it? Reminds me of a scary movie.

Every Minute. Every Hour. Everyday.

“Enjoy the little things in life, because one day you will look back, and realize they were the big things.”

It seems like only a few years ago, that Cheri and I were carving into a tree at Pajaro, getting ready for sunrise service on Easter Sunday, and finishing off an entire Strawberry Pie all by ourselves. Today, we added to our pair with my little one and I have to say, he made the perfect addition. While working part time does mean a pay cut, the minutes and hours I get to be with Jude will not be wasted. I’ll take every moment I get and treat it as a gift. A precious gift that I know will only last as long as I have this position and he’s not in school. To many more adventures, my little one!
