Secret Garden Project Week 2

“One of the new things people began to find out in the last century was that thoughts– just mere thoughts– are as powerful as electric batteries– as good for one as sunlight is, or as bad for one as poison is. To let a sad thought or a bad thought get into your mind is as dangerous as letting a scarlet fever germ get into your body. If you let it stay there after it has got in, you may never get over it for as long as you live.”     -Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden

I was wrong, the mural will not be done for another few weeks and now I understand why. After the first week, each artist is bringing to life the plants and animals through life like inspirations they’ve taken from our local farm. It’s amazing to stare up close and personal at the head of a chicken and feel it’s beady eyes stare right back at you.

I find myself slowing down each time I make my way to the cafeteria, something that’s not easy to do when the hustle and bustle of a school day runs through my veins. I find that I simply can’t help it, but take in the goodness and to notice the little buzzings of life happening beside me.
